"Now, bureaucratic reform no longer merely focuses on dealing with governance and administrative issues, but also on poverty that impacts the people," Anas said here on Friday.
He said this in a forum held in Bandung, which was attended by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and officials of the province's districts and city governments.
According to Anas, there are four focuses of bureaucratic reforms, which include poverty alleviation, increasing investment, accelerating government digitalization, and prioritizing the use of domestic-made products.
The bureaucratic reforms, as directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), also aim to control inflation.
The minister said the West Java Provincial Government can become a role model for other regional governments in implementing bureaucratic reforms, especially in the field of digitalization.
"However, I stress that this digitization is not the same as creating new applications. Not all citizens' problems have to be solved with a new application," he said.
His staff expected West Java as a role model in bureaucratic reform, as the province has advanced in digitalization.
"In the future, I believe there can be an interoperability (of public service) with easy integration of services and data exchange," Anas said.
On the same occasion, Governor Kamil expressed his support for the success of thematic bureaucratic reform in West Java.
“Hopefully, our region can inspire national-scale policies, and I support the thematic bureaucratic reform," he said.
He also invited all district and city governments in the province to carry out President Jokowi's directives related to bureaucratic reform.
Earlier, Anas asked local governments in Indonesia to present an integrated public service, such as the UK, where it successfully reduced thousands of applications to only 75 public service apps.
