Jakarta (ANTARA) - Talent management policies could become an effective means of assessing and selecting potential leaders at various governmental levels.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin delivered the remarks virtually at the 2023 National Coordination Meeting on Civil Service themed "Talent Management 2030: Smart, Agile, Empathy" on Tuesday.

Talent management refers to developing, utilizing, and assessing human resources in a sustainable and effective way.

The Vice President said that the implementation of talent management is expected to support the selection of competitive individuals who can develop better governance in the future as well as hone the next generations of Indonesia so they become excellent resources.

"We expect Indonesian ASN (civil servants) to not only become competitive, superior, and reliable, but also intelligent, agile, and empathetic, showing that they have excellent emotional intelligence,” he expounded.

He also expressed the hope that the application of talent management would sustainably generate the best talents in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Amin appealed to the participants of the national coordination meeting to share their thoughts and ideas on optimizing the effectiveness of talent management implementation to advance governance in Indonesia.

"I wish this national coordination meeting to become a strategic forum to generate novel ideas from various stakeholders for the future development of civil servants,” he said.

Discussions on talent management are very relevant to support the government’s transformation agenda regarding development to optimize Indonesia’s demographic dividend and realize Golden Indonesia 2045, he added.

Furthermore, at the meeting, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil traced the development of bureaucratic reform within the West Java provincial government up to the district/city and village levels.

He said that apart from talent management, the provincial government has also used artificial intelligence to realize bureaucratic reform.

He further said that he expects the technological adaptation applied by his party to help West Java province become one of the pillars of the successful implementation of quality bureaucratic reform in Indonesia.
