Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry is aiming to finish the implementing regulations of Law Number 12 of 2022 about Sexual Violence Crime (UU TPKS) by June 2023.

“I have indeed set targets for my two deputies, who are my persons in charge for this Sexual Violence Crime Law derivatives, whether through government regulation or presidential regulation, (and they have been tasked to finish the regulation) in June," Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga said.

She made the remarks at a press conference on the "Commitment to Formulate Sexual Violence Crime Law's Derivative Regulation," which she joined virtually from here on Wednesday.

She affirmed that her administration held a discussion with the inter-ministerial committee to ensure that the draft government regulation and the draft presidential regulation accommodate the victims' best interests.

"We hope that the derivative regulations of this Sexual Violence Crime Law, which we are still being formulated, can be ratified to improve and maximize the Sexual Violence Crime Law in terms of institutional matters and implementation," Puspayoga said.

The Deputy for Women's Rights Protection at the Ministry Ratna Susianawati said that her administration is doing its best to finish the implementing regulations.

"Today, in the inter-ministerial committee, a presidential regulation has been finished. Hopefully, this week, one more presidential regulation can follow, and then later, there will be other presidential regulations or government regulation drafts; hopefully, it is in accordance with the target," she said.

Once everything has been completed by the committee, the next step will be harmonization, she pointed out.

"There is another stage after this, harmonization. Hopefully, if it has been discussed in the inter-ministerial committee, the harmonization process will not take so long," Susianawati said.

Three government regulations and four presidential regulations have been set as implementing regulations for the law. They include the Government Regulation Draft on Sexual Violence Crime Prevention and Handling, Protection, and Recovery of Sexual Violence Victims; and the Government Regulation Draft on the Monitoring of Sexual Violence Crime Prevention and Victims' Handling Implementation.

They further cover the Presidential Regulation Draft on Central Integrated Services on the Protection of Women and Children; the Presidential Regulation Draft on Regional Unit for Women and Children's Protection; and, Presidential Regulation Draft on National Eradication of Sexual Violence Crime.
