Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga urged all relevant parties to collaborate and demonstrate strong commitment to advancing women's, peace, and security agendas.

“We have successfully taken concrete steps and real actions on implementing women's, peace, and security agendas through the work of the P3AKS (Protection and Empowerment of Women and Children in Social Conflict) work group,” she informed.

Puspayoga delivered the statement at the “Dialogue and the Launch of the Report on the 2014–2023 P3AKS National Action Plan” in Jakarta on Thursday.

“On the global scale, we have ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW, and adopted the UN Security Council resolution 1325,” she said.

She highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to adopting women's, peace, and security agendas, which is being realized through Presidential Regulation Number 18 of 2014 on the Protection and Empowerment of Women and Children in Social Conflict (Perpres P3AKS).

The regulation implements the mandate of Law Number 7 of 2012 on the Handling of Social Conflict.

"The Indonesian government's commitment was further marked by the ratification of Law Number 7 of 2012 on the Handling of Social Conflict, which was followed by derivative regulations through presidential regulations and ministerial regulations from the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture," she said.

The adoption of the agendas has involved taking the situation in Indonesia into account, which has a varied conflict typology, especially related to communal conflicts.

The 2014–2019 P3AKS National Action Plan and the 2020–2025 P3AKS National Action Plan, which are currently in place, have been established in keeping with the presidential regulation’s mandate.

The action plans cover the areas of prevention, handling, empowerment, and participation.
