Jayapura (ANTARA) - Education Minister of Papua New Guinea (PNG) Jimmy Uguro is scheduled to undertake a working visit to Papua, on Thursday, to observe educational development in the province.

Head of Papua Province's Office of Education, Library, and Regional Archive Christian Sohilait said in Jayapura on Wednesday (June 14) that the visit will be the inaugural one from the neighboring country since the establishment of the four newly formed autonomous regions (DOBs) in Papua.

The four Papuan DOBs are Central Papua Province, South Papua Province, Highland Papua Province, and Southwest Papua Province.

"We gladly welcome the news on the visit. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to the governments of Papua and PNG to exchange ideas for advancing the world of education," Sohilait said.

During the visit, the PNG entourage will be accompanied by Australian officials, so the visit is highly expected to run smoothly, he added.

"So, we received a letter from Australia, informing us that the PNG education minister will be visiting Indonesia, Papua in this case. The PNG entourage will consist of 35 delegates," he pointed out.

The PNG delegates are scheduled to pay visits to the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) as well as to the State Vocational School 3 of Jayapura, Papua, he noted.

"The visit encapsulates two grand agendas. First, they will visit the PYCH before heading to the State Vocational School 3 of Jayapura, where the PNG Government would like to see firsthand how the Indonesian Government is helping dropout children," Sohilait said.
