According to the statement received here, Friday (June 16), the minister highlighted that PMI often become the favorite in their respective placement countries for their good manners and competency.
"Hence, let us promote and maintain the positive image of PMIs, which will also extend to the image of Indonesia," Fauziyah stated during her meeting with PMI and diaspora representatives at the Indonesian Embassy in Rabat, Morocco.
She noted that migrant workers have a huge potential for national development, particularly for their place of origin.
While acknowledging the complexity of migrant workers' issues, the minister reiterated the government's firm commitment to ensuring the interest and rights of migrant workers and their families.
Meanwhile, she highlighted the national migrant workers' placement data from 2018 to April 2023 that showed only 47 Indonesian migrant workers are working in Morocco, mostly in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
"The 47 migrant workers have all been registered in the Indonesian government's system, which will benefit PMIs themselves, particularly in the aspect of their protection as Indonesian nationals," she stressed.
PMI and diaspora in Morocco should establish good relations with their companies, colleagues, and the Indonesian embassy in Rabat as well as observe all regulations, the minister stated.
She also highlighted that working overseas is not only to make a living but is also an opportunity to bolster personal competency and knowledge.
"Work with a heart full of gratitude, so all of you can emanate the Indonesian nation's image as a large, well-mannered, and compliant nation with advanced human resources that persevere in maintaining the nation's dignity," Fauziyah remarked.
