"I really appreciate Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to strengthening protection for Indonesian migrant workers," Jokowi stated in a press conference with PM Ibrahim after the meeting in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, Malaysia, on Thursday.
Based on monitoring via the Buletin TV3 Malaysia television station's YouTube channel, here on Thursday, Jokowi also commended PM Ibrahim's efforts to strengthen fair law enforcement for Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.
"PM Ibrahim and I also agreed to form a special bilateral mechanism to resolve the problems of Indonesian migrant workers," he remarked.
Jokowi also pushed for the establishment of a community learning center in the Malay Peninsula at the earliest.
"Also, Indonesian citizens, who are at the immigration depot, should be sent home immediately. Meanwhile, the one-channel system must also be optimized," Jokowi stressed.
This is Jokowi's return visit to Malaysia after PM Ibrahim met with him at the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java on January 9, 2023.
The various agreements and memorandum of understanding reached between the two countries during Jokowi's visit to Malaysia were a follow-up to the visit of Ibrahim to Indonesia in January.
On the same occasion, PM Ibrahim said he did not view Jokowi's trip as a mere working visit for engagement between two state leaders.
"(It is) because I consider President Jokowi to be a true friend, and our negotiations are family negotiations, friendly negotiations," he affirmed.
"This is proven by the tremendous increase in cooperation and understanding in this short period of time," he stated.
