Hence, it will surely benefit all aspects which (require) thorough improvement in the aspect of national development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has said that the recently launched Republic of Indonesia Satellite-1 (SATRIA-1) will support connectivity in regions throughout the country.

"Surely, the satellite will facilitate (connectivity) in all regions, as we want to materialize the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and all regions will be connected through the satellite," Amin affirmed here on Tuesday.

He said that SATRIA-1 will especially enhance public services as the government is seeking to carry out digital transformation through the Digital Public Service Mall (MPP), a one-stop public services facility for residents.

"The Internet does not only concern the government, but also education, the economy, and others," he added.

Amin also expressed optimism that SATRIA-1 would support the development of the Indonesian nation in the future.

"Hence, it will surely benefit all aspects which (require) thorough improvement in the aspect of national development," he said.

SATRIA-1 was successfully launched into space from the Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC 40) in Florida, the United States, at 6:21 p.m. on Sunday (June 18, 2023) local time or 5:21 a.m. Monday (June 19) Jakarta time.

A reusable rocket called Falcon 9, owned by American-based private spacecraft manufacturing and launching company Space X, was utilized to launch the satellite.

According to a 2023 study conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics' Telecommunication and Informatics Accessibility Agency (BAKTI), SATRIA-1 will have a capacity of 150 Gbps.

It will provide equal Internet access to 50 thousand public facilities in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions nationwide.

The Internet speed at each public facility served is expected to reach 4 Mbps, an increase from 1 Mbps earlier at each point, as calculated in 2018 at the start of the SATRIA-1 satellite project.
