Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Youth and Sports Ministry has commended the organization of a training camp in South Tangerang, Banten, by Juventus Academy Indonesia, which took place from June 27 to July 1, 2023.

"The ministry appreciates the event, which will undoubtedly contribute to early-age coaching and Indonesian football," said Mikha Tambayong, an expert staff member to the Youth and Sports Minister, as quoted on the ministry's official website, accessed on Wednesday.

She said that the participants of the training camp will learn new football techniques and tactics, thereby enhancing their experience and knowledge of the sport.

A total of 60 young Indonesian footballers, aged 7 to 17, are attending the training camp.

Under the guidance of coach Lorenzo Santoni and Juventus Academy Melbourne's technical director, Sebastiano Disco, they will refine their football skills.

Tambayong expressed that if young Indonesian football players are trained using the right methods, they have the potential to develop into professional players and may be invited to join the national team.

"Hopefully, this collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and football stakeholders can inspire and nurture the passion of the younger generation for this beloved sport of the Indonesian people," she added.

Currently, the Italian club has 90 academies spread across 33 countries and 49 locations, having trained more than 40 thousand players thus far.

Following the training camp in South Tangerang, Juventus Academy Indonesia is planning to hold a similar program in December, leading up to the official opening of Juventus Academy Indonesia in Bali in 2025.

Earlier, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Aroitedjo expressed his delight in seeing Juventus Academy's efforts to develop Indonesian football talents, considering the country's large football fanbase.

"I support this collaboration that aims to cultivate Indonesian football talents," he stated while meeting with Juventus Academy's representative, Ade Sulistioputra, president director of KIOS, on April 28, 2023.
