Kolinlamil is strategic in helping the government in strengthening maritime connectivity, supporting the sustainable management of marine resources, and protecting the sea
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali reminded that the 62nd Anniversary of the Navy's Military Sealift Command (Kolinlamil) should be a momentum for self-evaluation.

"The commemoration of the Military Sealift Command's 62nd anniversary should not just be a regular ceremonial activity. It needs to become a momentum for conducting self-evaluation on its role in serving the country," Ali stated at the Command's Headquarters here on Monday.

He stressed that the theme of this year's anniversary, "Great Kolinlamil, Great Navy, Indonesian Military Go Forward with the People, Indonesia Rises Faster," must be proven through concrete actions.

He also underscored the importance of the role of Kolinlamil, currently led by Rear Admiral Edwin, in maintaining Indonesia's sea transportation and maritime defense.

"Kolinlamil is strategic in helping the government in strengthening maritime connectivity, supporting the sustainable management of marine resources, and protecting the sea," Ali remarked.

For over six decades, Admiral Ali affirmed that Kolinlamil has consistently contributed to the goal of a professional, modern, and strong Navy.

"This is proven through the quality of KRI (state warship) crew, planned-out maintenance and repair of warships, high-tech development, and higher strategies of military sea transport," he remarked.

The Naval Staff chief also gave five instructions to mariners.

"First, strengthen faith and piety towards God as a moral foundation in carrying out your duties. Second, improve your quality as a professional and highly dedicated mariner based on the Sapta Marga (military ethic code), the soldier's oath, and the three precepts of the Indonesian Navy," he elaborated.

Thirdly, he instructed the Kolinlamil mariners to conduct the best manning of the military armament system.

"Fourth, actualize zero accidents by increasing anticipation and risk mitigation," he remarked.

The fifth instruction Ali gave was to strengthen synergy between the military and police along with the communities and other components of the nation in strengthening unity.
