Based on an official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta, Wednesday, PM Marape welcomed the arrival of President Jokowi, who had recently completed a working visit to Australia on July 3-4.
PM Marape introduced the greeters from the PNG delegation: Minister of State Events Justin Tkachenko, Governor of State Capital Powes Parkop, Head of the Secretariat of the Government Department Office of the PM and NEC Ivan Pomaleu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elias Wohengu, and Commander of Armed Forces Major General Mark Goina.
Meanwhile, from the Indonesian side, a warm welcome was extended to the arrival of the delegation of the head of state, that is Indonesian Ambassador to PNG Andriana Supandy and Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Port Moresby Colonel Inf Piter Dwi Ardianto.
After the introductions, the two leaders headed to the stage of honor accompanied by the sound of cannons to then listen to the national anthem.
PM Marape then invited President Jokowi to conduct an inspection of the honor guard.
President Jokowi and PM Marape thereafter stood on the stage of honor to listen to the national anthems of the two countries again.
Following the welcome ceremony lasting about 30 minutes, President Jokowi then watched the "Hiri Motu" dance before heading to the car to continue the next activity.
