Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The inflation rate in East Kalimantan during Eid al-Adha was well-maintained owing to the Regional Inflation Control Teams' (TPIDs') efforts to ensure the supply of commodities and establish collaboration, Bank Indonesia (BI) has said.

"The inflation rate in East Kalimantan on June 2023 was recorded at 0.18 percent, lower than the previous month. This happened due to the (immense) contribution of the Regional Inflation Control Team in pursuing efforts in many things," Head of the East Kalimantan representative office of BI, Ricky Perdana Gozali, said in Samarinda on Wednesday.

He informed that on a month-to-month basis, the province's inflation rate in June was lower compared to May, when it was recorded at 0.20 percent.

Moreover, on an annual basis, East Kalimantan's inflation rate in June was 3.76 percent, lower compared to 4.06 percent yoy in the year-ago period, he added.

To ensure that East Kalimantan's inflation rate remained stable, all TPIDs in the region consistently pursued the inflation control program, for instance, by promoting the National Movement for Food Inflation Control (GNPIP), he pointed out.

Gozali also noted that the teams regularly established good collaboration, both at provincial and municipal levels, in order to maintain the prices of key commodities.

To ensure that the supply remained sufficient and the prices were affordable, the inflation control teams of East Kalimantan, Samarinda, Balikpapan, Bontang, Kutai Kartanegara, and Paser conducted the national cheap food initiative consecutively from June 26 in each of their jurisdictions, he informed.

Market operations to stabilize supply and prices were also routinely carried out, both in Samarinda and Balikpapan cities, he added.

East Kalimantan's inflation control teams also consistently conducted weekly coordination meetings so as to better follow the central inflation control team's directives, he pointed out.

"Later on, East Kalimantan TPID consistently collaborated to carry out inflation control program through 4K strategy, that being price affordability, sufficient supply, smooth distribution, and effective communication, so that East Kalimantan's inflation rate could be maintained," he added.
