"Local brand in which most of the players are micro, small enterprises, with unique costume product, became the current new trend on demand. Social media trend also headed toward unique goods, small but interesting," he noted through a statement, Thursday.
"This what we have to utilize to dominate the domestic market with local brand," he remarked after opening the JakCloth Summerfest Reload 2023.
By aiming for the middle to upper market segments, the minister is optimistic that the local brand producing unique and custom fashion will have value added, as the price of custom products is generally higher as compared to mass-produced items.
"The upper market can also be aimed for since they really need unique appeal from the fashion that they wear," he remarked.
While emphasizing custom and unique fashion products to dominate the domestic market, Masduki also reminded that the fashion industry can still mass-produce fashion intended for the middle to lower market segments.
This is necessary, so that Indonesia no longer has to import used clothing that will clearly kill the domestic fashion industry.
Speaking in connection with the JakCloth Summerfest Reload 2023, Masduki admitted to have been waiting for this event to be held since he deems it to be meaningful for the fashion and creative industry in Indonesia.
It was recorded that at every JakCloth event, over 300 local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMes) are involved.
JakCloth has also collaborated with Masduki's ministry for people's business credit (KUR) financing in collective raw materials' purchase, joint production, and joint warehouse to booth purchase in the JakCloth event, so that MSMEs can gain greater access to the market.
"This is a real proof of how the government also responded to the demand of MSMEs in Indonesia," he said.
