Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah asked Indonesian students who have finished their education abroad to return to Indonesia to develop the country according to their respective competencies.

"Lately, there have been many Indonesian students who change citizenship to live and work abroad," she said in her official statement here on Sunday.

While delivering remarks as a speaker at a seminar on the theme "Return to Home Country After Graduating" held here on Sunday by the Overseas Indonesian Students Association Alliance (OISAA), she noted that opportunities for OISAA members to work in various countries are becoming wider.

However, Fauziyah admitted her concern on hearing that some Indonesian scholarship recipients are reluctant to return to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, she assessed that the government had made efforts to improve welfare in all fields, including employment and education, to encourage people to participate in the country's development.

"All of this is done by the government so that the nation's best talents abroad want to return to help develop the country," she remarked.

On that occasion, she told OISAA students that one of the government's efforts that they can utilize if they return to Indonesia is the young talent development programs of the Manpower Ministry.

Through those programs, the ministry is optimizing human resources, particularly millennials and Generation Z, to become excellent and competitive generations. Those programs include Talent Scouting, Talent Fast, Talent Corner, and Talent Class.

The minister further explained that several digital employment service ecosystem platforms can also be accessed by OISAA students.

Those platforms include Skillhub for competency improvement, Karirhub for job vacancy information, and Bizhub, which can support graduates in becoming entrepreneurs through facilitation to training, mentoring, business networks, and financing.

"The government cannot prevent someone from making choices in their life, about their choice of working and living. However, it would be better if we jointly build our nation to become more advanced," the minister said.
