Sorong (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin lauded the Southwest Papua Provincial Government for its swift efforts to establish and run a proper administration by preparing various regional secretariats, services, and agencies.

The vice president extended his appreciation during the first stone laying ceremony for development of the Southwest Papua Government's Office Center at the Womnik Stadium, Kilometer 16, Sorong City, on Monday.

"I would like to extend my appreciation to the Southwest Papua Acting Governor (Muhammad Musa'ad) for his tremendous efforts in making various preparations despite serving in the office for only seven months so far," Amin remarked.

VP Amin then affirmed that the central government is committed to directly monitoring the process of development acceleration in the four newly-formed autonomous regions (DOBs) in Papua as well as harboring aspirations that will be taken as considerations during policy formulation processes.

The four Papuan DOBs are Southwest Papua, Highland Papua, South Papua, and Central Papua provinces.

"Each DOB, especially Southwest Papua, should undertake preparation measures in order to immediately establish and run a proper administration, providing the people with a sense of the government's presence," he elaborated.

So far, Southwest Papua has been investing prompt and extensive efforts to prepare the administration by developing a regional secretariat, Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) secretariat, Papuan People's Council (MRP), as well as services and agencies.

"Now, it is just a matter of expediting the development, so that the government will function effectively in the future," he noted.

On the occasion, Vice President Amin also urged all stakeholders in Southwest Papua to draw special attention to various matters that should be prioritized in the development process of the province.

Such a step can help Southwest Papua contribute further to the government's goal of realizing a smart, healthy, and prosperous Papua while upholding the values of integrity.

"Let us all work hard to realize a smart, healthy, and prosperous Papua region while upholding the integrity values. That is my message," the VP concluded.
