The ministry's Director General of the Development of Manpower Supervision and OSH, Haiyani Rumondang, stated that OSH specialists' presence, position, and role in workplaces are strategic as technical officers from outside the Manpower Ministry that supervise and ensure the OSH regulations are followed.
Rumondang made the statement in her online remarks at the opening of the 2023 OSH Specialists' Competency Improvement here on Tuesday.
"Apart from being a target of the ministry's strategic plan achievement, OSH Specialists' Competency Improvement is crucial to be carried out as a means of communication and education, so that OSH specialists can add insights about OSH," she remarked.
Hence, she believes that the OSH implementation at all workplaces can run well, and zero cases of work-related accidents and diseases can be achieved.
Through the competency improvement activity, various efforts are made, including drafting and updating regulations in the field of employment, innovation in the implementation of guidance and supervision, as well as OSH services, she explained.
Rumondang noted that those efforts are aimed at increasing the awareness of company management and workers on the benefits of OSH implementation that can boost efficiency and productivity.
On that occasion, she lauded OSH specialists, who have carried out their duties well, supervised the fulfillment of OSH requirements in the workplace, made innovations, and sought new breakthroughs to develop the OSH implementation.
"Hopefully, your efforts can continue to be carried out, be followed, and be developed to improve the understanding and care of workers and the general public regarding OSH through scientific and technological approaches," she remarked.
Some 25 people from the ministry's Directorate of OSH Institutional Development and companies partook in the 2023 OSH Specialists' Competency Improvement training activity offline, while two thousand OSH specialists from the general public category participated through online means.
