"OSH is an investment and is (designed) to maintain business continuity, as well as to achieve company productivity," she said at the 2023 OSH Awards ceremony here on Thursday.
On the occasion, she noted that the OSH Awards are a part of the government’s efforts, especially the Ministry of Manpower, to promote OSH.
OSH Awards are given to companies that succeed in achieving zero accidents, implementing the OSH Management System, preventing and handling HIV-AIDS in the workplace, and preventing and handling COVID-19 in the workplace, Fauziyah said.
In addition, they are handed to governors for OSH supervision in regions.
"This effort has shown results for several years, where the number of companies that maintain zero accidents every year has risen," she said.
The minister informed that the percentage of companies with zero work accidents has risen by 3.8 percent. In 2022, there were 1,742 companies that recorded zero accidents, and in 2023, their number has risen to 1,812.
Meanwhile, the number of companies using the OSH Management System has declined by 14 percent to 1,749 companies in 2023 from 2,004 companies in 2022.
As for the HIV-AIDS Prevention and Handling Program, the number of companies that have succeeded in implementing it has increased by 31 percent to 498 companies in 2023 from 343 companies in 2022.
Then, the number of companies that have succeeded in terms of COVID-19 Prevention and Handling has climbed from 916 in 2022 to 1,014 in 2023, an increase of 11 percent.
"We hope that the achievement of the OSH award can motivate leaders of other companies to maintain the OSH performance," Fauziyah said.
