Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Minister Budi Arie Setiadi has invited the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration to collaborate in accelerating village digitalization in Indonesia.

He said that quicker digitalization at the village level could support faster dissemination of information on village development.

"We must realize the construction of digital infrastructures in villages so that no one is left behind," he said while handing over charge to Paiman Raharjo, who replaced him as the new Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, here on Monday.

Setiadi expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support he received in the Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry during his almost four-year tenure as deputy minister.

He further said that he will still encourage village development even though he is currently in a different ministry.

He also affirmed that he is committed to encouraging village development in terms of digital infrastructure development to support telecommunications and expressed the hope that the program will run well with sound synergy with the Village Ministry.

According to him, one of the indicators of progress in villages is access to the Internet.

"A village is said to be advanced, independent because it already has adequate telecommunication connectivity," he said.

He expressed the hope that cooperation between the two ministries will continue.

The Kominfo Ministry will not only be open to collaboration on digital infrastructures, but also to the development of talents to create quality village development.

He urged the talents of the Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry not to hesitate in asking for digital and technology capacity-building programs from his ministry to improve their capabilities.

"Kominfo (Ministry) has complete equipment related to technology, so it can be a reference for the civitas of the Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry," Setiadi said.
