Probolinggo, East Java (ANTARA) - The Probolinggo City Government, East Java, explored cooperation in business, education, and tourism with Thailand's Narathiwat Province.

"We welcome the plan for cooperation in education, investment, and business," Probolinggo City Secretary Ninik Ira Wibawati remarked here on Tuesday.

The Probolinggo City Government officials received Narathiwat Governor, Sanan Pongaksorn, and his entourage on Monday (July 24) evening.

At the Bee Jay Bakau Resort (BJBR) tourist attraction in Mayangan, Probolinggo City, the two sides engaged in casual conversation and conveyed each other's programs.

"We are currently developing sports tourism. Supported by the quality of human resources that continue to improve, we believe investment opportunities that mutually benefit both parties can be wide open," Wibawati stated.

Meanwhile, Governor Pongaksorn welcomed the offer of cooperation by Probolinggo City.

"The potential for cooperation in the education sector, such as student exchange, and business potential for the progress of the two countries can be further developed. We invite the Probolinggo City Government to Narathiwat Province, Thailand, for further discussion," he stated.

Pongaksorn said that the city government had extended a warm welcome to him and his entourage.

The Thailand delegation comprised 14 people that included District Chief of Rangae, Vimutti Amnukmanee, and Secretary of Thailand's Private Education Office Pibyaa Radanawrrachad.

Probolinggo's Assistant for Economy and Development Wawan Soegyantono, Acting Head of Education and Culture Siti Romlah, and Head of the district's Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP) M. Abbas also participated in the discussion.

Furthermore, Governor Phongaksom noted that education cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia has an important meaning.

"Education is what makes life better, as it is related to work," he affirmed.

The Thai guests were also accompanied by the Nurul Jadid University (UNUJA) Rector, Abdul Hamid Wahid, to explore the East Java region.

It is said that East Java and Narathiwat have established sound relations since a long time.
