Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Mendes PDTT) Abdul Halim Iskandar has asked village governments to involve more women in development.

"Involve as many women as possible in the development process," he said, when inaugurating the Cemara Beach Tourism in Lingka Kuta Village, Gandapura Sub-District, Bireuen District, Aceh, as quoted in his statement on Saturday (August 5).

He asserted that women are more careful about accuracy, including how to keep financial resources used responsibly.

He said that development involving women often produces results that are more orderly and good because women tend to be more careful than men.

Minister Iskandar also sees the involvement of women in development as important because it is a target of the fifth Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to gender equality, and the fifth goal of the Village SDGs which encourages women's involvement in villages.

"I hope there will be no more gender inequality so that women have the same rights as men to contribute according to their role," he said.

He also reminded the village heads about the use of village funds on that occasion.

He said village funds could be used for various things that could encourage economic growth and improve the quality of human resources in the village.

This includes the use of village funds for early childhood education (PAUD), stunting reduction, and for cash transfers (BLT).

"In principle, village funds may be used to encourage two aspects, including economic growth and human resource development," he said.
