Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Land Bank Agency has conducted some works to support the construction of the Naretetama VVIP Airport in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

Syafran Zamzami, the agency's project manager in North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan, stated that they are fully supporting the airport's development in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 31 of 2023, which aims to accelerate VVIP airport development and operation in IKN.

"To comply with the regulation, we have implemented several measures, including land clearance to create a perimeter for the airport, gathering data on potential parties capable of executing the airport's physical development, and installing boundary markers," he said in a statement received on Monday.

The agency has prepared locations for implementing agrarian reform to help the government achieve economic equity and succeed in national development. These locations include protected areas, toll roads, and the site designated for the airport's development.

The Land Bank Agency has obtained the right to manage an area of 4,162 hectares where the airport will be built.

On Saturday (August 5), Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi personally inspected the airport's development site. He emphasized that his ministry aims to highlight Kalimantan's culture in the airport's construction.

"We will invest maximum efforts to ensure that the airport's architecture showcases Kalimantan's culture while embracing the concept of a green airport," he stated.

He also expressed hope that the airport would be operational by the 79th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day next year.

"We are preparing for the airport's construction, with its runway and terminals designed by the nation's talents. We hope the airport will be operational by August 17, 2024," he added.
