Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi said it is a way to ensure that broadcasting services can be evenly distributed throughout Indonesia.
"The issue of broadcasting in border areas needs serious attention, therefore Kemenkominfo has implemented a policy to facilitate easier licensing," said Setiadi in a press release, Saturday (12/8).
He made the statement at the 90th National Broadcasting Day (Hasiarnas) Commemoration event in Bintan District, Riau Islands, on Saturday.
The minister underscored the government's commitment to boost the efficiency through organizing TVRI multiplexing.
The ministry has had discussions with national broadcasting industry stakeholders to be more pro-border areas.
"I have asked digital television broadcasts in border areas to prioritize national and diversity content," he said.
The Minister invites all parties to work together to ensure that the broadcasting industry is responsive to the time and inclusive.
"At the same time we also want to ensure inclusive broadcasting services, including giving special attention to border communities," he said.
The highlight of the 90th Hasiarnas Commemoration was also attended by the Governor of the Riau Islands Ansar Ahmad, Chairman of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission Ubaidillah and all KPI commissioners and representatives of broadcasting industry associations.
