Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) targets to publish the document of the OJK Regulation (POJK) No. 14 of 2023 concerning Carbon Exchange next week.

OJK's Chief Executive of the Supervision of Capital Market, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange, Inarno Djajadi, stated here on Friday that POJK No. 14 of 2023 is currently undergoing a process at the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

"It is under process at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, the regulation already has the number, which is POJK No. 14 of 2023, but the document has not been published. Hopefully, it will be published next week," Djajadi remarked.

He explained that POJK No. 14 of 2023 contains various rules and regulations related to trading and organizing carbon exchange.

"The content includes general definition, requirements for the (bourse) organizer, the board of directors, and where they domicile," Djajadi elaborated.

On the same occasion, he invited various parties keen to become carbon exchange organizers to submit documents in accordance with the requirements specified in POJK No. 14 of 2023 later.

"The POJK, of course, will be followed with an OJK Circular for more details (of the regulation implementation). Those who are interested should register," he stated.

Djajadi highlighted that several companies have applied to become carbon exchange organizers in Indonesia, though no one has submitted documents, as they are still waiting for POJK No. 14 of 2023.

Earlier, the OJK signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Environment and Forestry Ministry, which became the legal foundation for the exchange and use of carbon trading data through the National Registry System for Climate Change Control (SRN-PPI).

Earlier, the OJK said it continues to prepare the implementation of a carbon exchange to support the government’s carbon pricing initiative to tackle climate change.
