"The project contract for the construction of 47 towers of flats for civil servants is ready to be signed next week," Danis Sumadilaga, head of the ministry's IKN infrastructure development executive task force, said in Jakarta on Friday.
Sumadilaga revealed that the contract will be signed with a domestic company since the project will be financed using a portion of the State Budget (APBN).
"APBN will be used for financing the development of flats for civil servants in IKN," he said.
He then noted that civil servants in IKN will occupy different types of flats, depending on their rank. The higher the rank, the larger will be the size of the flat allotted to them. Each tower will have 12 floors, he added.
According to him, the construction of the flats will take environmental preservation into account, so it will be carried out without cutting too many forest trees.
Law No. 33 of 2022 on the Capital City stipulates that the main goal of the relocation of the capital is the transfer of executive, legislative, and judicial seats from Jakarta to Nusantara.
In view of this, the task of relocating the capital city is inseparable from the need to move civil servants working in central government agencies to IKN and prepare their accommodation.
The government is planning to gradually relocate civil servants from next year by prioritizing those serving at the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry, Finance Ministry, and some other agencies.
The relocation will be a momentum for the government to further implement bureaucratic reforms by increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the governance at the central level.
