Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi has left for India to attend the G20 Digital Economy Ministers' Meeting (DEMM), which is scheduled to take place on Sunday (August 20, 2023) local time.

Indonesia will participate in the meeting as a party to the G20 Troika, which also comprises India and Brazil. India is holding the G20 Presidency this year.

"In the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meetings under India's G20 Presidency, we discussed three issues: public digital infrastructures, the quality of human resources, and cybersecurity," he informed in a press release received here on Friday.

Minister Setiadi said that his ministry is ready to share Indonesia's outlook on the three priorities during Sunday's meeting.

The three priority issues have been included in the final document produced after four rounds of DEWG meetings, which have been held since February this year. By participating in the discussions, the ministry is aiming to accelerate the domestic digital transformation.

"(The aim is)… to support the efforts in realizing digital transformation in Indonesia as well as achieving the vision of Digital Indonesia 2045," he said.

The minister noted that the support and stance of Indonesia on all the issues discussed at the DEWG will not only help it to expedite its digital transformation efforts, but also help all G20 countries achieve common interests.

"The point is that we support any agreements that can bring mutual benefits to G20 countries," he said.

According to the ministry's website, the G20 DEWG was initiated in 2021 as a working group tasked with encouraging the acceleration of sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic development through the promotion of digitalization.

During Indonesia's G20 Presidency in 2022, DEWG covered three priority issues: digital connectivity and post-COVID-19 recovery, digital literacy and development of digital talents, and cross-border data flow.

The previous edition of DEMM held in Bali marked the conclusion of several rounds of DEWG meetings under Indonesia's presidency last year.
