Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno expressed belief that the adoption of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP) Curriculum will improve the competency and quality of human resources.

Sandiaga said in a statement obtained here Thursday, the ASEAN-standard curriculum was prepared with the hope that the graduates of the State Polytechnic of Tourism (Poltekpar) could be able to compete to obtain better jobs and open up businesses that would create jobs for the people.

The minister made the statement during the launch ceremony of the curriculum at Poltekpar campus in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday (August 23).

"This curriculum encourages the use of the English language and is paying more attention to business or entrepreneurial skills," he remarked while explaining the advantages offered by the ASEAN MRA-TP Curriculum.

Minister Uno then noted that currently, the young generation is facing various challenges in a world marked by global uncertainties that push youths to hone their capacity to be able to adapt to dynamics.

Uno then expressed hope that by adopting the curriculum, the polytechnic will continue to produce talents that are capable of exploring business opportunities, creating job vacancies, and bringing global recognition to Indonesia's tourism sector.

"Poltekpar is helping the country face global tourism challenges. We are currently witnessing the transformation of our tourism and creative economy sectors. Hopefully, these sectors will be able to compete at the international level," he remarked.

At the tourism polytechnic, the ASEAN MRA-TP Curriculum will be implemented along with the Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum (CATC) and the Regional Qualifications Framework and Skills Recognitions Systems (RQFSRS) that have been verified by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

During the launch ceremony, Minister Uno was accompanied by several of his ranks at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, including the ministry's secretary Ni Watan Giri Adnyani.

Head of South Sulawesi's Office of Culture and Tourism Muhammad Arafah, Head of South Sulawesi's Tourism Promotion Agency Andry Arief Bulu, BNSP commissioner Tetty Ariyanto, and directors of the state polytechnic also attended the launch ceremony.
