"(The ride was) good and smooth, with nothing lacking. It is ready," Hartono remarked at the Jatimulya LRT Station, Bekasi, West Java, on Friday, after checking the readiness of the Greater Jakarta LRT.
According to the acting governor, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in his last review of the Greater Jakarta LRT's readiness, noted that when the train pulled into the station, the train doors did not exactly come to a halt right at the platform screen doors.
However, he said that currently, the position of the train doors and platform doors is in correct alignment, and the travel time is appropriate.
"Recently, it was tested by the Transportation Ministry. It was quite good, and the time (travel) is already good," he remarked.
Hartono spoke of having urged the Jakarta Transportation Office to coordinate with the regional governments surrounding the capital city to provide feeder buses to facilitate LRT passengers.
“I ordered the Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office to coordinate with the transportation offices of Bekasi and Bogor to provide feeder buses. I asked Bekasi to provide 10 feeder buses,” he remarked.
Hartono noted that the Greater Jakarta LRT will become one of the public transportation modes, especially during the 43rd ASEAN Summit, on September 5-7, when access to several of Jakarta’s roads will be restricted.
Hartono remarked that during the 43rd ASEAN Summit, the Jakarta Provincial Government will help provide feeder buses for LRT passengers, especially those commuting from and to Jakarta for work.
Hartono and other officials traveled for about an hour from the Dukuh Atas LRT Station, Central Jakarta, to the Jatimulya LRT Station, Bekasi.
Meanwhile, the government will provide subsidies for LRT fares in order to support the operation of the Greater Jakarta LRT.
