Jakarta (ANTARA) - The new capital city authority (OIKN) stated that artificial intelligence (AI) may be utilized in the development of the new capital (IKN) Nusantara smart city.

"The implementation of AI in IKN can be in the smart city domain, especially for the efficiency of forest hotspots' monitoring and humidity sensors as well as the operation of autonomous electric vehicles," OIKN Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation Mohammed Ali Berawi noted in his statement on Friday.

Berawi also drew attention to the circular letter from the Head of the IKN Authority regarding Guidelines for Smart Buildings as well as the potential of smart city investments in the infrastructure sector and super apps.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Collaboration for the Acceleration of Indonesian Artificial Intelligence Innovation (KORIKA), Hammam Riza, expressed hope that AI would be used to help humans in increasing productivity and improving efficiency with greater creativity.

"Apart from humans, AI is also expected to lead us to a comprehensive economic and welfare stage," Riza remarked.

According to the Law number 3 of 2022 on IKN the smart city concept has been considered as an element to emphasize the development of IKN as Indonesia's new capital city that is dynamic, inclusive, supported by the community, and ready to face the future.

The smart city component in the IKN Master Plan identifies digital or technological added value elements to proffer greater benefits to the new capital city, it said.

The law outlined three main strategies to realize a smart city, namely vision and results that are aligned with IKN's overall strategic framework; smart strategies for the region that summarize the main digital opportunities for IKN; and a list of smart initiatives that provide development possibilities.

Smart initiatives that must be prioritized in IKN include access and mobility, environment and climate, security and safety, public sector, urban systems, and livability and dynamics, it said.
