Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday distributed food assistance in the form of rice to beneficiary families in Karawang district, West Java province.

He affirmed that the government will be distributing rice aid to as many as 21.3 million beneficiary families until November, according to a statement received here on Thursday.

"In September, October, and November of 2023, Bulog (state-owned logistics company) will distribute 10 kilograms of rice aid each to a total of 21.3 million beneficiary families. Today's activity is the implementation of that plan," he said.

A number of local residents who received the aid expressed their gratitude to the government for the assistance. Siti Maesaroh, one of the recipients, said she was happy and touched at the opportunity to receive the aid directly from the President.

"Today, I received 10 kilograms of rice and a package from Mr. Jokowi. I am very happy and emotional, praise be to God. I wish Mr. Jokowi a healthy and successful life," she added.

Oyah, another recipient, also extended his gratitude to President Widodo and prayed for his well-being.

"Thank you Mr. Jokowi, I have received the aid. It means a lot to me. May God bless Mr. Jokowi with a long and even better life," he said.

Minister of Investment and head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia; Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan; head of the National Food Agency, Arief Prasetyo Adi; and president director of Bulog, Budi Waseso, accompanied the President during the aid distribution.

Acting governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, and head of Karawang district, Cellica Nurrachadiana, also joined in the activity.
