"Shooting is a sport that requires a high level of concentration, focus, and skill. I hope this championship can create opportunities for talented shooters to compete, develop, and advance shooting sports at the regional level," Jakarta acting governor Heru Budi Hartono said in a statement received here on Sunday.
At the Perbakin Shooting Range in Senayan, Central Jakarta, he said that the competition was held for one week on September 10-17.
Some 906 participants joined in the competition event which took place at the Perbakin Shooting Range in Senayan and in Denrudal 003 Shooting Range in Cikupa, Banten.
According to the statement, the participants competed vigorously by showing their best abilities in shooting.
This championship gathered talented shooters from various backgrounds, including athletes from shooting organizations or clubs, the Indonesian Military/Police (TNI/Polri), individual participants, and professionals.
Hartono hoped that the Jakarta Governor's Cup 2023 event, which was held for the first time, could continue to be held annually.
"The goal is to strengthen relations with TNI/Polri ranks in the Jakarta area. Talents can also emerge in this event to enter the national championship, so we invited the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), " Hartono said.
On the occasion, the acting governor expressed his appreciation for the synergy between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Perbakin management in supporting the development of national shooting sports and strengthening officials' friendship in Jakarta.
The championship winners were awarded medals, certificates, money for coaching, and trophies.
The tournament participants aged 15-60 years from regions across Indonesia were divided into five branches, namely target shooting, reaction shooting, hunting shooting, executive and precision, and dueling shooting.
