Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has formulated three strategies to support and promote the Peaceful 2024 General Election narrative.

The three strategies will be implemented across three phases: before, during, and after the elections, Kominfo Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said in a statement released on Tuesday.

He said that Kominfo is collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including media outlets and digital platforms, to bolster the concept of peaceful elections.

"In general, the message conveyed is aimed to address various election-related issues, including increasing participation, fulfilling the right to vote and be voted," Setiadi said.

He added that other things that can help respond to election issues include preventing polarization and handling hoaxes.

For the first strategy, namely before the elections, Kominfo is prioritizing encouraging the community to reject abstention and play an active role in elections.

That way, the elections could run optimally with optimal participation of people in voting for their leaders, he said.

As for the second period, namely during the elections, the ministry will focus on encouraging joint efforts to ensure the situation remains conducive until the vote-counting process is completed.

Lastly, during the post-election period, the ministry will focus on inviting the community to maintain unity in responding to the results of the general elections.

To ensure that ideas and messages are disseminated uniformly and optimally, Kominfo is collaborating with digital platforms, election organizers, election supervisors, and other strategic stakeholders.

Other strategic stakeholders, who have also been involved in preparing for the Peaceful 2024 General Elections, include mobile network operators and telecommunications providers.

One initiative that the ministry has launched to promote Peaceful 2024 General Elections is text message blasts.

"To amplify the narrative of Peaceful 2024 General Elections and support the secure and conducive implementation of the 2024 elections, internal coordination across work units of the Ministry of Communication and Information will also be conducted," he said.

Through the Directorate General of Public Information and Communication, Kominfo is intensively carrying out dissemination of information and discussions on the elections.

Simultaneously, Kominfo's Directorate of Postal and Informatics Operations will carry out an assessment of the quality of services during the election period to ensure no telecommunications problems occur during the vote-counting process.

Furthermore, the Directorate of Applications and Informatics at the ministry is preventing the spread of hoaxes through monitoring and debunking hoax content.

"We are also taking down hoax false information related to election issues and restricting access to websites that disseminate election-related hoaxes," Setiadi said.
