Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment has confirmed that Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is in good health now amid reports that he was rushed to a Singapore hospital for surgery.

The ministry's spokesperson, Jodi Mahardi, informed that Pandjaitan is currently in good health, but has been advised complete rest by his doctor.

"Minister Pandjaitan is in a good condition in Jakarta. Based on the doctor's recommendation, he was asked to take rest to speed up his health recovery," Mahardi told ANTARA on Friday.

Mahardi, who is also the deputy for maritime sovereignty and energy coordination at the ministry, asked for prayers and support from the community for Minister Pandjaitan's recovery and health.

"We ask for support and prayers from the community for Minister Pandjaitan's recovery. We hope he can return to his normal activities. Thank you for your attention and prayers," he added.

The ministry's deputy for investment and mining coordination, Septian Hario Seto, also confirmed Pandjaitan's condition and said he is currently in Jakarta and is taking complete rest due to fatigue.

"It is not true (that he was rushed to a Singapore hospital). He is in Jakarta. He is just tired and taking a bedrest for now," Seto added.

The ministry has denied reports circulating among journalists via messaging service WhatsApp, which state the minister was rushed to Singapore for urgent cardiac surgery.
