Jakarta (ANTARA) - Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono stated that of the total cases of stunting, reaching 22 thousand, throughout the Jakarta area in 2023, some nine thousand have been resolved.

"The number of nutritional insecurity cases is 23 thousand, and 13 thousand cases have been addressed so far," Hartono said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Regarding handling stunting and providing additional food (PMT), Heru explained that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to synergize through the "Jakarta in Action" program and coordinates with related parties to accelerate the reduction of stunting.

Pemprov also continues to forge synergy through the "Jakarta in Action" Program that is implemented by providing food cooked by integrated health posts (Posyandu) cadres.

The food, containing carbohydrates, protein, and fiber, is weighed according to the nutritional needs of toddlers. Apart from that, Pemprov is also coordinating with related parties to accelerate stunting reduction by facilitating the creation of the stunting.jakarta.go.id website as a stunting dashboard.

Moreover, the function of Posyandu was strengthened as a place for initial screening, monitoring the growth and development of toddlers, and providing PMT through community health centers and sub-districts to pregnant women and toddlers.

Hartono visited the Pekojan I Village Health Center on Jalan Bandengan Utara I, Tambora, West Jakarta, to review the development of stunting cases among toddlers in the area on Wednesday (Oct 11).

At the Community Health Center, food was handled out to five out of the nine toddlers identified as stunted.

Member of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Basri Baco urged Pemprov or the Health Service to be serious in making efforts to treat toddlers with nutritional problems on a massive and comprehensive basis.

As a result, a stunt-free Jakarta can be realized.

Baco encouraged the special budget for stunting to be increased. He also emphasized that the issue of stunting should be the focus of collaboration between agencies, especially those responsible for health service.

"Carrying out synergy across the Regional Apparatus Work Unit (SKPD), especially for equal distribution of additional food and vitamins for school-age children and pregnant women on a regular basis," Baco stated at the DKI DPRD Building, Central Jakarta, on Monday (Oct 9).
