Jakarta (ANTARA) - Director of service and creative product export development of the Ministry of Trade, Miftah Farid, is targeting transactions of US$2.5 million at the 2024 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW).

"At the JMFW in October, there are transactions; the target is US$2.5 million," he told the press after opening the 2024 JMFW kick-off event here on Thursday.

He stated that the government is targeting the JMFW to not only stop in October. He assessed that what is most important is the progress of the modest fashion industry after the JMFW is held.

Farid is targeting participants of the JMFW to promote their products and establish business cooperation with domestic sellers, international buyers, foreign trade attachés, and others.

He further said that they should continue to take part in exhibitions other than the JMFW.

However, if it is not possible to take part in exhibitions, he hoped that those who have participated in the JMFW would do online business matching to increase public knowledge regarding their products.

"Going forward, after they have a portfolio of domestic fashion shows, (and those) in New York, in London, in Paris, next year is the time to strengthen their engagement with international buyers," he remarked.

He explained that his ministry wants the JMFW to strengthen the ability of industry players to carry out business matching.

According to him, 150 domestic fashion designers will participate in the 2024 JMFW. He added that the total number of participants could reach more than 200 if included participants from the cosmetics and fashion accessories industries.

The Ministry of Trade, in cooperation with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and other stakeholders, is organizing the 2024 JMFW, which is scheduled to be held from October 19 to 21, 2023, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, in Tangerang, Banten.
