The MotoGP Mandalika event is also a strategy to introduce Mandalika as one of our super-priority destinations and encourage people to travel to IndonesiaJakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy fully supports the 2023 MotoGP Mandalika series at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on October 13-15, as an event to promote the Wonderful Indonesia nation branding.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated on Saturday that the racing event is one of the biggest sports tourism events in Indonesia.
He noted that the crowd of visitors at the event is an effective medium to promote Indonesia's tourism to the world.
"MotoGP has a large group of fanatic supporters. That is what we are working on. Indonesia is also one of the biggest MotoGP fans in the world," Uno noted in a statement.
Moreover, the race will be covered by 119 media partners and reach more than 200 countries that can help to promote the Wonderful Indonesia branding, he remarked.
The installation of the Wonderful Indonesia branding was carried out at various points in the Mandalika circuit and its surroundings, such as turns 16 at 18 at the circuit, at the Wonderful Hills, and some other locations, the minister revealed.
Moreover, the Wonderful Indonesia branding will be visible on vehicles used by MotoGP riders during the parade around the circuit before the warm-up session, Uno stated.
Wonderful Indonesia will also be promoted at the Fun Mandalika side event, a three-day creative economy bazaar that provides an opportunity for creative economy business owners to introduce their products to the community, he revealed.
Uno stated that Wonderful Indonesia, as brand equity, has become the identity of the Indonesian tourism industry and creative economy that is known throughout the world.
"The MotoGP Mandalika event is also a strategy to introduce Mandalika as one of our super-priority destinations and encourage people to travel to Indonesia," he remarked.
The minister is optimistic that the MotoGP series in Indonesia will be an opportunity that continues to grow.
Data from the 2022 MotoGP Mandalika recorded that the event had an economic impact of Rp3.57 trillion for the NTB economy and Rp4.5 trillion for the national economy as well as absorbing 4,600 members of the workforce.
"We hope this event can revive the economy and open up business opportunities and jobs as widely as possible. We believe that this is a policy that is right on target, right on benefits, and on time," Uno emphasized.
