"Reform constitutes the DNA of the Finance Ministry," she said during the commemoration of the 77th Hari Oeang (Money Day) as quoted in a written statement on Monday.
"By constantly conducting reform, we can continue to improve ourselves," she added.
Indrawati stressed that bureaucratic reform is a crucial foundation for achieving the vision of Advanced Indonesia 2045. She urged officials at her ministry to continue self-assessment in an effort to improve the quality of public services.
She emphasized that the Finance Ministry should transform the public services it offers by taking into account the aspects of convenience, certainty, swiftness, and fairness. She said that the goal is to provide the finest services to the nation.
"The Ministry of Finance should continue to improve and augment its performance and attitude," she stressed. "We should not betray the mandates given to us."
She also called on her officials to realize their crucial responsibilities, saying that they are not merely tasked with managing the country's budget but also making utmost efforts to provide the people with the best services to elevate their living standards.
Indrawati said that officials at the Finance Ministry should always enhance their capabilities of managing state finance and responding to rapid and constantly evolving challenges in the current era marked by continued developments in technology.
She observed that technological developments would affect the pattern of people's interactions, which, in turn, would also have an impact on how the economic system develops and how relevant institutions, such as the Finance Ministry, respond to it.
"Let us continue to improve various services we offer by creating innovation, as our lives today are inseparable from the rapid changes of technology," she stated.
