Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, ensured that the development of several hospitals at the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara will be right on target, namely in mid-2024.

"Before August 17, 2024, there are four hospitals targeted for completion, consisting of one vertical hospital and three private hospitals," he noted in a statement on Thursday.

He ensured that no problems would be encountered regarding the hospitals' buildings and health devices. However, he did admit to the challenge of availability of health workers at IKN's hospitals.

To this end, Sadikin stated that the government would offer opportunities for collaboration with several parties to increase the capacity and capability of doctors in Indonesia.

The minister also suggested that those hospitals can provide services for participants of the National Health Insurance (JKN) by the state-run health insurer (BPJS) Health. Thus, more people can benefit from international-class health services.

"Thank you for starting these hospitals' infrastructure development. Apart from the health service, please also receive BPJS patients," he stated.

On a separate occasion, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had remarked that the construction of the hospital would further strengthen the trust of the public and investors, so they would not hesitate to stay at IKN.

The president noted that health facilities at IKN were always questioned by people looking to move to the new capital.

He then explained that the hospital would be built based on international standards with a smart and green building concept by utilizing renewable energy and support from smart hospital digitalization.

"We will continue to build various supporting facilities to attract more people to live in IKN and make this region as a lively, bustling, modern, advanced, and environmentally friendly capital city," he affirmed.
