The legal awareness of the community, including women, must continue to be improved
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Multi-party synergy and participation are key to ensure that the protection and fulfillment of women's rights run well and in accordance with the law, the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry has emphasized.

"Multi-stakeholder synergy and participation are the key so that the obstacles and challenges that emerge can be overcome properly so that efforts to protect and fulfill women's rights are in accordance with the law," Deputy of Gender Equality at the ministry Lenny N. Rosaline said here on Monday.

Incidences of violations of the law and human rights, especially with regard to vulnerable groups such as women and children, are still high, she noted.

This can be taken as an indication that the community's legal awareness is still low and that law enforcement is still weak.

Therefore, the community's awareness of the law — which includes an understanding of the law and its role in social life — needs to continue to be improved.

"The legal awareness of the community, including women, must continue to be improved," Rosaline stressed.

To enhance legal literacy among women, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection has continued to make legal awareness improvement efforts by pursuing joint synergy with the relevant stakeholders.

Rosaline said she believes that if they have good knowledge and understanding of the law, women can become more confident and, most importantly, not fall for the tricks of irresponsible parties or fall victim to violence easily.

"In the context of reducing violence cases, women's legal awareness must continue to be improved," she underlined.

This aligns with Article 27 of the 1945 Constitution, which requires all citizens to uphold the law and government's policies.

She added that the government has also passed several laws aimed at protecting and fulfilling women's rights.

"However, the presence of the state needs to be balanced with the courage of the victims to speak up and report, as well as the victims' understanding of the laws that protect and fulfill their rights," she said.
