"Can the report from Commission I of DPR RI on the results of the fit and proper test for the TNI commander candidate regarding the dismissal of Admiral Yudo Margono and appointment of General Agus Subiyanto as the TNI commander candidate be approved?" House Speaker Puan Maharani raised the question during the plenary meeting at the Parliament Complex.
All DPR members and faction representatives present at the session responded in agreement to this question.
Chairperson of Commission I of DPR RI, Meutya Hafid, affirmed that her side had carried out a fit and proper test for TNI commander candidates on November 13 to get a clear picture of Subiyanto's vision and mission.
After considering the views of the factions and members of Commission I, Hafid then agreed to the honorable dismissal of Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI commander and lauded Admiral Margono's dedication.
"(Then) Giving approval to the appointment of the candidate for TNI commander General Agus Subiyanto as TNI commander," Meutya remarked.

The House speaker then congratulated and held a photo session with General Subiyanto present at the plenary meeting.
Apart from Maharani, other deputy speakers also present were Rachmat Gobel, Lodewijk F. Paulus, and Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
General Subiyanto was proposed as candidate for TNI commander to replace Admiral Margono who retired on November 26, 2023.
Earlier, the general served as the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff since October 25, 2023.
After being approved by the DPR RI in the plenary meeting, he is currently awaiting inauguration as TNI Commander carried out by President Widodo.
According to information from the TNI Commander's personnel assistant, the inauguration will be held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on November 22 at 10:00 local time.
