Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is coordinating with other ministries and institutions regarding the World Bank's (WB's) plan to give US$30 million to Indonesia's Government, the ministry's Director of Competency Standardization, Titik Lestari, stated.

The funding will be disbursed to help Indonesia implement the cross-ministerial Integrated and Sustainable Tourism Development Program as well as the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry's Tourism Awareness Campaign (KSW) Program in 2024.

"It is true that Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has revealed (the information on the fund disbursement approval). However, we are currently coordinating to genuinely receive the US$30 million," Lestari remarked in Jakarta on Thursday.

She underscored the need for the government to conduct a thorough analysis to decide on measures for optimizing the expected fund while noting that risks in the utilization of the fund are similar to those in the use of the State Budget (APBN).

"Hence, we need to initially carry out an analysis because we must maintain our accountability. The handling and risks are similar to those related to the APBN. We need to act mindfully since even a minor mistake could prove costly," she cautioned.

Earlier, Minister Uno revealed that the WB had agreed to disburse US$30 million for assisting Indonesia in improving its tourism sector.

"The World Bank has agreed to provide an additional fund to ensure the continuity of this (KSW) program in 2024," he remarked in Jakarta on Sunday (November 26).

Uno noted that apart from financing from the WB, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will prepare supporting funds for the continuity of the program next year, adding that the ministry is still calculating the budget for the program.

Uno explained that the funds would be utilized to support the improvement of human resources and strengthening of institutionalization in tourism villages in need.
