I hope references on the sharia economy and finance come from Indonesia, and our experts speak at global forums.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has asked universities in Indonesia to help develop innovative and advanced business models to support the development of the national sharia economy and finance.

"I appeal to the University of Indonesia and all universities in the country to continue teaching, doing research on, and socializing the sharia economy and finance to the public," he said.

Amin made the statement at the launch of the 2023 University of Indonesia Industrial Government (I-GOV) expo and Indonesia's Sharia Economic Outlook (ISEO) 2024 here on Tuesday.

The Vice President said that the university and other universities should also continue to produce experts in sharia economy and finance to meet the needs of Indonesia and other countries.

Considering how technological innovation and advancement have affected people's lives, Indonesia's future would also be shaped and transformed by their application, he said.

The sharia economic and financial sector would also be affected, and technological disruption would determine Indonesia's success in optimizing the potential growth of future halal businesses and investment, he added.

Given the importance of sharia economy and finance in Indonesia, a regime change in 2024 cannot be used as an excuse for stopping efforts to accelerate its growth, Amin said.

All future national leaders must remain aware of this as Indonesia is one of the world's biggest democratic countries with the largest Muslim population, he said, adding that it is reasonable if the archipelago leads the development of the global sharia economy.

"I hope references on the sharia economy and finance come from Indonesia, and our experts speak at global forums," he added.
