“We add one ferry to help home-comers during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year, from previously six units serving the East Nusa Tenggara area,” PT Pelni’s Secretariat Head Evan Eryanto said here on Sunday.
He said this is to ensure Pelni’s readiness to support the homecoming flow during the holidays, especially in the archipelagic province.
KM Binaiya will help the six other passenger ships, namely KM Umsini, KM Awu, KM Bukit Siguntang, KM Wilis, KM Sirimau and KM Lambelu.
Eryanto ensured that the ship worthiness of the seven passenger ships that will serve the area.
He explained, the peak of the exodus via Tenau Port in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, will happen on December 23, and KM Awu will be the one serving that day, with estimated number of passenger reaching between 600 to 800.
“On December 18, KM Binaiya will serve around 600-800 passengers too,” Eryanto said.
He said the tickets for Pelni ferries can be purchased online or directly at the lockets and Pelni branch offices.
Earlier, PT Pelni announced that ship tickets for the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holiday period can be purchased on PELNI Mobile App and other ticket sales channels starting Friday (November 17).
"For security and (passengers’) comfort, ship tickets for all destinations in Indonesia can be bought on the PELNI Mobile App. Now you can purchase tickets from home or office,” Eryanto said.
He said that Pelni has prepared 26 passenger ships and 42 pioneer ships, that serve remote areas, with a total capacity of 51,296 seats for this year-end holiday transportation flow.
