Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has said that Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, is ready to serve air passengers during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Executive general manager of Soetta Airport, Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, said here on Thursday that all facilities at the airport are ready to accommodate an increase in flight traffic during the holidays.

One of the facilities prepared to support the peak season is the facial biometric recognition technology TravelinPass, which allows travelers to go through departure processes more quickly.

"For safety aspects, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport has prepared the Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit to always be on standby," he informed.

Recently, the ARFF unit held the ARFF Challenge and Summit with the theme "Breaking the Limits, Preparing for the Next Challenge" to increase the monitoring skills of personnel, especially ahead of the year-end holiday period.

The training aimed to test and improve the readiness of ARFF personnel.

"This event, which was to increase ability and alertness (of personnel), aligned with the year-end exodus period," Wicaksana said.

His side is expecting a 12.5-percent increase in the number of passengers during the coming year-end holiday compared to the year-ago period.

"We estimate that the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport will reach 148,461 passengers in the year-end holiday period, or from December 18, 2023, to January 4, 2024. This number is up 12.5 percent compared to the previous year's," he expounded.

The first peak of homecoming flow is expected on December 22, 2023, and the second on December 29. Meanwhile, the reverse flow is forecast to peak on January 2, 2024.
