Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (ensures that buildings and basic infrastructure built at the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara would be inspected or checked under a commissioning program.

"The inspection process for buildings and infrastructure that have been built at IKN will definitely be carried out," the ministry's secretary general, Mohammad Zainal Fatah, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Fatah, each building and infrastructure at IKN will be scheduled for commissioning.

Fatah noted that his side is responsible for preparing basic infrastructure at Nusantara, according to the government's mandate.

"We are targeted to finish it next year. This is our duty, and we must provide the best service to the community," he added.

The ministry, through the National Capital City Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force, will conduct inspections of all buildings in Nusantara to ensure their suitability for habitation.

All buildings in Nusantara, namely the Palace Area, the Presidential Office, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs building, ministerial residents, and other buildings, will be inspected by the team, Fatah stated.

Inspections conducted include checking lights and water flow, stair function, room division, and others, he remarked.

Nusantara is the future capital of Indonesia that is determined and regulated by Law Number 3 of 2022.

The development of the new capital is not merely moving the city capital and central government buildings but also planning a modern urban center with IKN principles as a Future Smart Forest City of Indonesia.

The new capital will change the government's development orientation to become Indonesia-centric and will help to accelerate the country's economic transformation.

The new capital development will also place Indonesia in a more strategic position in world trade routes, investment flows, and technological innovation.

Moreover, the new capital will become a pilot project for green and sustainable city development driven by utilization of the latest technology.
