Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry adopts the green and smart building concept in the construction of flats for civil servants (ASN) and defense and security officers in the new capital (IKN) Nusantara.

"We are adopting the green and smart building concept in building the ASN flats, in accordance with the PUPR Minister's Regulation No. 21 of 2021," the ministry's Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force, Danis Sumadilaga, told ANTARA in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to Sumadilaga, the adoption of the concept is aimed at realizing the vision of developing flats as smart system-powered buildings that utilize green energy.

"Of course, we are envisioning the ASN flats as buildings that utilize eco-friendly energy and are equipped with the smart building system, which combines a building management system, a smart home system, and a security system," he stated.

Currently, the government is developing a total of 47 flat towers for civil servants and defense and security personnel in an area totaling 45.91 hectares in Indonesia's future capital city.

Each tower will have 12 floors, with the first and second floors dedicated to public facilities such as gyms and public spaces, while the rest of the floors will serve as living spaces.

The PUPR Ministry is also applying the principle of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in developing the flats, which will have 2,820 residential units in total.

In detail, 31 towers, comprising 1,860 units, will be allocated for a maximum of 5,580 civil servants. Meanwhile, 960 units in 16 towers will be dedicated to personnel of the National Police (Polri), State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).

The ministry has set December 2024 as the targeted completion date for the construction of the 47 flat towers.
