"The government has started to monitor, and mask-wearing has increased in certain locations. Thus, regarding the health protocol, we are starting it, but of course, we measure how significant the development of COVID-19 is," he remarked in Jakarta.
Amin assessed that it is important to now conduct vaccinations to create immunity and reduce the possibility of COVID-19 spreading.
"Those who have not been vaccinated should get vaccinated to create immunity," he highlighted.
Amin noted that so far the government has not taken special measures to respond to the current development of COVID-19.
However, if the risks are getting more significant, then the government will hold a limited meeting immediately to determine the concrete handling action, he added.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) earlier said that he had ordered Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to follow and observe in detail the development of the COVID-19 situation ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
He said the minister told him that so far, the situation is still good.
"Yes, the situation is still under observation," Jokowi said on Friday.
The Ministry of Health earlier reported that the COVID-19 case trend in Indonesia has shown an uptick since October 8-14.
On December 30, 2022, the government announced an end to the public activity restrictions policy that was enforced to control COVID-19 transmission.
On June 21, 2023, the government officially revoked the pandemic status in the country.
