Head of Public Relations at the Sumedang Police, Adjunct Commissioner Awang Munggardijaya, said on Monday that his team immediately dispatched local police officers to check the condition of their respective work areas.
He added that local police officers reported that the earthquake caused damage to some 100 residential buildings.
"Seven sub-districts were impacted, with no casualties, only damaged houses. The data is being collected," Munggardijaya remarked.
Moreover, police officers, along with military personnel, assisted with setting up tents for patients evacuated outside hospital buildings.
"Tents provided by the district's Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), battalion infantry (Yonif), the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), and the Red Cross were built along the hospital, and they are enough to accommodate patients evacuated from the hospital," he remarked.
In addition, the Sumedang Police assisted in handling patients temporarily placed outside the hospital buildings until the conditions were declared safe and they could be returned to their rooms.
"The handling is complete, and the focus is on the evacuation process, both at the hospitals and in Sumenang City," Munggardijaya remarked.
He stated that the Sumedang Police Wives Association (Bhayangkari) helped distribute food to patients and their families.
