Bandung Basarnas Head Hery Marantika, noted in a statement from Bandung Basarnas that the rescue team is currently in the process of evacuating victims of the train collision between the long-distance train Turangga Train and the local commuter line train, Bandung Raya Train.
The trains collided on the railway near Cicalengka Station in Cicalengka Sub-district, Bandung District, at 6:03 a.m. local time.
Marantika noted that the evacuation process is conducted by involving several parties, including the state-run railway company PT KAI, to accelerate the evacuation and data collection of victims in Friday's incident.
He stated that Basarnas had deployed two teams, with one tasked with conducting evacuation while the other was in charge of conducting data collection of victims at the Cicalengka Regional Public Hospital, Bandung District.
"We formed two teams on the field, namely the evacuation team and the data collection team at Cicalengka Regional Public Hospital," he stated.
He noted that data is still being collected on the number of victims evacuated and those taken to the hospital by officers on the field.
Earlier, Bandung Basarnas received information at around 6 a.m. local time regarding the collision between the Turangga Train with the Bandung-Surabaya route and the Bandung Raya Train with the Padalarang-Cicalengka route.
KAI's Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus, stated in Bandung District that around 287 passengers were aboard the Turangga Train and around 191 people on the Bandung Raya Train.
He said that based on the latest information, all passengers are safe.
