"Based on our monitoring, so far, there is nil (the flood)," Head of the Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Processing Michael Sitanggang remarked when contacted here on Friday.
Sitanggang noted that water levels at all floodgates in Jakarta were still normal based on his observations.
Despite no flooding since rains being received in the morning, he stated that the BPBD officers have been alerted at flood-prone points in the capital city.
"All are still normal, and they (water levels) can be monitored regularly through https://bpbd.jakarta.go.id/waterlevel," he remarked.
Earlier, he noted that the Jakarta BPBD had prepared 267 skilled quick-reaction team officers to evacuate residents in case of emergencies and floods.
"The officers are equipped with expertise in evacuating residents in emergencies," he remarked.
The quick-reaction team is tasked with handling disasters, such as floods and landslides; promoting education; evacuating residents during flood events; and monitoring the post-condition.
Sitanggang stated that the Jakarta BPBD has conducted several mitigation efforts to deal with potential disasters during the rainy season.
The agency's anticipatory efforts included preparation routines, public service, and exercises to face the rainy season.
"The preparation routine, which was attended by hundreds of joint personnel from the sub-district military, the local police, BPBD, the Fire and Rescue Office, Health Office, and Social Office, aimed to check the readiness of personnel and equipment to face the rainy season in Jakarta," Sitanggang remarked on Tuesday (January 2).
The official social media handles of the Jakarta BPBD are @bpbddkijakarta (Instagram) and X on @BPBDJakarta, where the public can get disaster updates and alerts.
