"I was asked by President Jokowi in 15 days to prepare short-term, medium-term, and long-term scenarios for ASN relocation," Anas informed after a limited meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace on Friday.
He said that the acceleration of preparations for the relocation is related to the recruitment of 690 thousand ASNs from new graduates, 240 thousand of whom would be placed at IKN.
"So, this ASN recruitment is a momentum. Not only for IKN, but also to welcome Golden Indonesia. Therefore, the placement scenario must be prepared," he added.
However, the minister did not share the details of the plan, saying he still needs to coordinate with all ministries and state institutions.
"At first, we will gather data and calculate from all ministries/institutions' needs, including how many ASNs they need, what kind of talent is needed, and others," he said.
The government is planning to shift 3,245 ASNs to IKN in the first stage from July to November 2024.
ASNs from 37 ministries/government agencies will be transferred in the first stage. The government has prepared 1,740 housing at IKN for them.
Earlier, Anas explained that ASN relocation to IKN would not entail merely a physical relocation, but also a transformation of work culture and public services.
For this reason, he asked each ministry/institution to prepare the best human resources depending on the requirements for the positions and services and their competencies.
According to him, the transfer of ASNs to IKN is a strategic step to strengthen public administration and support the national development vision.
In addition, the transfer will provide momentum for implementing effective and efficient governance, he added.
